Be A Doll!!!
Do you have what it takes to be a Roller Doll?
We all start somewhere. Our skaters all started with varying levels of skating ability. We will teach you how to skate, to fall, and how to kick some derby booty! We have skaters of all ages and body types. We have moms… even a grandma! Our skaters include hair stylists, counselors, a professor, an HVAC technician, an architect, and even a radio personality! We come from all walks of life, derby is one of the most inclusive communities out there, and we must warn you, your “circle of friends” will grow exponentially!!!
We are dedicating Wednesday evening practices (7-9:30pm) to working on skills and helping our new skaters learn all that is required to become a derby player. New skaters, who are often referred to as “Fresh Meat” can also attend Sunday evening practices (5-7:30pm) to work off the track and/or observe the veteran skater scrimmages to learn the ins and outs of this game we call roller derby. Practices are held in the Armory Building on the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds.
Don’t really want to be a skater but want to get involved? We are always looking for refs, officials, and Dollunteers. We also have a few important positions in our league and as always, the many hands make idle work! Contact us or come to practice to check it out and get more info!!
